Stroller Strides is a total-body fitness program, designed for moms with their little ones. Each class is taught by a certified fitness instructor, and is 60 minutes and combines power walking or jogging with strength and toning intervals, along with songs and activities to keep the kiddos entertained. We work to provide you with a fun and challenging workout, but each class is also designed to offer options and modifications to fit your fitness level, whether you're new to fitness or you're already running laps around Greenlake with your stroller.
Stroller Strides and Barre classes are SO much more than just a walk around the lake! We move from station to station, doing a HIIT workout that has been specifically designed for postpartum women. We pride ourselves on offering a workout that's a challenge, but making sure that it's appropriate for all levels of fitness! But also, not just a walk in the park.
Yourself, dressed in comfortable clothing to work out in
Your baby, in a sturdy stroller (it doesn't need to be a jogging stroller)
A yoga mat or towel, for abs and stretching
Snacks for your little one
Anything else you may need to keep your little one entertained
With any new workout regime, you should get doctor's approval. Typically postpartum moms get the okay to work out at after 6 weeks. If you have any questions we encourage you to call your healthcare provider.
That's okay! Sometimes babies cry, but you'll be in a group full of moms with their kids - we've all been there and we all get it. You're always able to do what you need to do to take care of your little one, and of course we try to keep things moving so that the kids are happy and entertained.
During the warm months, our classes are held outdoors (rain or shine) at Greenlake Bathhouse Theater on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, University Village Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Maple Leaf Tuesdays and Thursdays, Plans are currently in the works to add classes in Capitol Hill and Queen Anne.
During the cold months, our classes are held at the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and University Village Tuesdays and Thursdays. If the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club happens to be closed for business during our class time, the moms are still able to use the back door to the club.
If you have a class time or location that you're dying to see on the schedule, let me know! We add different times and locations based on demand.
In the Winter (November-March) we move from Greenlake to a location nearby that we can hold classes indoors (ie the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club). In the Spring/Summer, we hold classes at Greenlake, rain or shine - but use plenty of environmental cover. And amazingly, class time is typically dry and pleasant, even here in Seattle.
Body Back is session based. It gives us an opportunity to periodize the workouts and to really focus as a group.
